1-2 lb beef, cubed and cooked (in oil with garlic,onion,salt, pepper-whatever you like- to taste)
3 cup water
1 cup frozen cut green beans
1 cup frozen sliced carrots
(can add other frozen veggies as desired)
1/4 cup quick cooking barley
1 TB beef bouillon granules + 1 can beef broth
1 can tomato sauce (8oz)
1 ts dried thyme
1/2 tsp salt (and any other spices as desired)
In large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover;simmer 10-14 minutes or until veggies and barley are tender.Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Those that don't eat meat can delete that from recipe, can substitute tofu, veggie burger etc)
